Learn to Read Tarot Cards - The Hanged Man Tarot Card

By admin On October 31, 2008 No Comments
tarot
The Hanged Man features one of the most fascinating and poetic images of the whole tarot card deck: a man hanging upside down from a tao cross (sometimes a tree or bar) by one foot, his hands bound or tucked behind his back. He is suspended in mid air, his free leg forming the number 4 with his other leg.

Unexpectedly, he is not struggling to escape and instead has a look of complete satisfaction on his face. What is the story behind this strangely calm hanged man?

1) The Number Four

Four is the number that rules a person ego, implying that the hanged man is suddenly surrendering his own consciousness and will for a much higher one.

2) The Story

The story is inspired by the Norse god Odin, who hung from the world tree for nine days straight after a spear wounded him. As a result, he was forced into a temporary state of enlightenment. Odin had give up control to gain insight.

Often, change is falling from the hanged man, resembling his loss of worldly possessions and thus worldly desires. Remember how his hands are not free? This shows that he is unable to take action or grab at things he may want. Also, he is not holding onto anything!

As the man hangs between the ground and the cross, he has a moment of absolute clarity, consisting of new insights that render him carefree. His materialistic self is transformed into a spirit that is unconcerned with practical, day-to-day worries.

But the hanged man would not always be in this suspended position; he will eventually return to the earth and become a part of society again. However, even after his epiphany has worn off a bit, he will hopefully be changed forever.

3) Are you hanging upside down?

How might the Hanged Man be a metaphor for your life? Are you going through a big change that is requiring you to sacrifice relationships, money, possessions, financial or emotional security, or even your ideas about how the universe works?

If so, then you have a stunning opportunity to take a glimpse into what a life without earthly wants and needs, unattached and free from all prejudice and judgment, is like. While this state of consciousness is only momentary, it can influence the rest of your life and give you a new, powerful freedom and bravery to pursue hopes and dreams you never even considered before.

The hanged man has to sacrifice previous notions about the way things work, all his belongings, and even health and physical comfort in order to become enlightened. The Hanged Man tarot card is not about life or death or making choices or even predictions about the future. It is simply about viewing all existence with the kind of innocence and openness that only babies have. Hence, the Hanged Man is a symbol for rebirth and transformation.

Those who relate to the hanged man the most have typically suffered a big loss. Divorce, death, a job change, growing old, getting sick - all of these can trigger someone to rethink everything. If we can be like the Hanged Man, at peace with what we have and not sorrowful or angry about what we don’t have, then no matter what life throws at us, we will always evolve and become better, happier people in the end.

4) Your Next Step

While we are hanging upside down, we are paused in life, but the stage is now set for us to adapt to new changes and progress. Imagine yourself standing at a crossroads, not ready to pick a path.

First, take a step back and observe what is going on in your life without the intention of making any conclusions or decisions regarding your future. The Hanged Man encourages non-action. Sometimes, it is NOT necessary to do something, and in fact it is foolish and often destructive to act just for the sake of acting.

Patience is the most important virtue for you to practice right now! There are periods in your life where all you can and should do is wait. This may mean a lot to you if you are waiting on your significant other or love interest to make a move or if you are waiting to find out if you got that new job. Just as the hanged man, life might be out of your control right now. The key is to accept this fact and not fight it; fighting will be futile after all.

5) The Reversed Hanged Man

There are two sides to every coin! The conventional Hanged Man encourages tarot card readers to relax, while the reversed Hanged Man encourages action. The man who says he will start up his business tomorrow, not today; the woman who says she will pursue an education tomorrow, not today; the nicotine addict who says he will quit smoking tomorrow, not today… these are all people who might be in need of a good change and should stop waisting their time reflecting on the mysteries of life!

The Essential of Good Psychic Readings

By admin On October 31, 2008 No Comments
psychic
There are many questions that can arise in a person’s life that cannot be easily answered with the standard methods of a physical reality. Matters of the spirit in particular require seeking into that area of our existence that is called the soul. For one who is not confident in their own intuitive abilities there is the option to acquire a psychic reading from a person more experienced with the psychic phenomena.

Finding a competent and, above all, real psychic is essential to gaining a useful understanding of these matters. Because psychic ability cannot be measured in a scientific way, finding the true psychics among the charlatans and confidence artists can be difficult. There are a few ways to determine if the results of a psychic reading can be trusted as useful information.

A true psychic will at once focus on your problem, not on how much they are hoping to be paid for their efforts. While the trappings of the mystic can help set a mood for accessing the psychic levels of understanding, they are not a necessary element. A psychic of real ability can divine as easily from a saucer of ink-stained water as an expensive crystal ball. Whether the psychic you choose seeks their answers from tarot cards, runestones or even a trance state meditation, the interpretation they offer should be clear and understandable. Someone who goes on about “signs and portents” or uses scare tactics to warn you about things only they can shield you from are most likely making it up as they go along.

Life is not always safe and a true psychic will tell you if the reading shows a danger in your future. However, the true psychic will attempt to direct you to an understanding of how you can correct the situation. A true psychic understands they are only a tool for you to improve your own life and condition by pointing out things you may have not seen for yourself. A true psychic reading should inform you of how a situation was created to bring you to this point and offer options for how to resolve it. No psychic should tell you what to do.

It is essential that a good psychic reading be presented in ideas and terminology that you can understand and can relate to. When you get a psychic reading, you should be allowed to ask questions about the results. A true psychic knows they are acting somewhat as a psychiatrist in that they help you use the information gleaned from the psychic reading to take control of your own actions regarding the matter at hand. A true psychic reader will help you do this in a way that makes you feel comfortable about your own decisions.

Tarot Card Meanings: How To Interpret A Single Card In Tarot Reading

By admin On October 27, 2008 No Comments
tarot
In the deck of tarot cards, each one of the seventy eight cards carries its own meaning. The twenty two cards in the major arcana have the most significant meanings when considered individually. This is because the major arcana cards indicate strong people and issues in a tarot reading. The minor arcana help determine some detail about those strong people and issues.

1) One at a time

Each tarot card is considered individually first and then it is noted how it relates to the other cards in a reading and how it relates to the position it takes in the card spread.

I want to use The Emperor card as an illustration about the interpretation of individual cards. The Emperor can be represented in a tarot deck in several ways depending on the style of the cards.

On some cards The Emperor is shown as a ram and on some he is depicted as an eagle or as a throne. This card means leadership, power or strength. It can also mean tyranny or impatience because each card can have a more positive meaning and a more negative meaning based on its placement and other contributing factors.

Simply looking at this card in its singular state could tell you many things and you must always remember that you need to make a connection between this card you have selected and the question you have asked.

Perhaps you have The Emperor in your selection of cards and based on your situation and your question, it makes more sense for The Emperor to take on the negative state to mean a lack of rule or a lack of respect for authority. You must use a creative approach when deciphering such cards.

2) Location, location, location

Each placement in a tarot card spread has meaning. If I continue with the example of The Emperor as I used above, The meaning of the Emperor tarot card now shifts or is refined in meaning to correspond with its position.

There are many different spreads, so I will not get into each one. If The Emperor card is placed on the spread in a spot which signifies motivation for example, you can further read that the power and leadership meaning of this card may be what motivates the individual who has selected these cards.

If this very same card were to be placed in a spot which signified service it would have an entirely different meaning. While The Emperor still represents power and leadership, it could now be understood that this individual is in a leadership position and that serving people is what puts them there.

So you see that placement is important in the interpretation of every single card. You could compare it to colours. If you tell someone that you bought a red jacket they will get a mental picture in their head of what a red jacket means.

When they see you in that jacket however, they discover that it is really more of a muted wine colour and that it is much more subtle and understated than they imagined when they heard the term red jacket. Placement of each tarot card actually helps define the strength and attitude of that card.

3) Relationships

Another thing that affects each card in a placement is the other cards. For example, the Two of Cups is in the reading along with The Emperor. This card must be studied on its own just as The Emperor was and then, after that it must be redefined based on its placement and the other cards accompanying it.

Firstly, the Two of Cups represents a relationship and usually will mean love. Let us imagine that the Two of Cups has been placed on a spot which indicates motivation. We will then have to consider that this person who is in a powerful leadership role and is dedicated to the service of people is motivated by love.

This tends to indicate a person who is very interested in the service of others for the sake of love. Sure, this person may be powerful but that power seems to be focused in a way that benefits many people.

4) No-one is an Island

As you can see, the individual meaning of each tarot card is important and each card should be considered on its own.

The entire reading will be unbalanced however if the positions of each card and how they may relate to the other cards in their respective positions must all be taken into consideration. Seeing the whole picture is worth much more than any single card.

Pair Charged in Tarot Scam

By admin On October 23, 2008 1 Comment
tarot
Samantha Srillian asked:

Many people were left wondering whether karma had worked its magic yesterday after a pair of tarot card reading con artists were jailed in Chicago for defrauding their clients.

Eric Tan, 34, and Tracy Tan, 37, were charged with planning to defraud their customers by persuading them that they were cursed. Once their customers believed that they were cursed, the crooked con artists convinced them that the only solution was expensive counselling sessions at a potential cost of thousands of dollars. As a police press release explains, “Tracy Tan would convince the customers that they had a curse on them, and that she was the only one who could fix their problems. During this ‘counselling,’ she would charge her victims thousands of dollars for her services and products, which provided them with a false sense of hope.”

The Tans had their business, Psychic Tarot Card Reading, searched by police after complaints from unhappy clients. During the search on the unlisted business, which was located near Naperville, police seized a substantial amount of cash and jewellery.

Following the findings, arrests were made and as a result, Tracy Tan was charged with eight felony counts, which include theft, forgery and possession of fraudulent identification. Meanwhile, Eric Tan was just charged with possession of fraudulent identification. The pair were held by the county court on a bail of $750,000 each, and they are both scheduled to appear back in court next month.

This case emphasises the importance of using reliable psychics and tarot card readers. Whether you choose to have a telephone reading, an email forecast or even a face-to-face tarot card reading, it is essential that you can trust the reader.

About Tarot Card Readings

Tarot Cards are a deck of 78 brightly illustrated cards that can be used to make predictions about the future. The cards are divided into two sections, the minor arcana and major arcana. Like regular playing cards, the major arcana boasts four suits of 10 cards that are numbered from ace to 10, as well as four court cards; the page, knight, queen and king. The minor arcana features the more famous tarot cards such as The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance and The Devil.

Prior to a reading, Tarot cards tend to be shuffled by the reader or subject, before being placed face down in a pattern or ‘spread’ onto a flat surface. Every card’s position in the spread has a particular number, and the cards are then turned over in that order. The card’s position in the spread shows which aspect of the subject’s life the card is referring to.

Picking Up Women With Tarot Cards?

By admin On October 23, 2008 No Comments
tarot
Want to learn how to pick up women? How about this? You walk into a party and before you can say a word, women approach you and ask you a question. You smile and nod. A short while later you sit down, and a crowd composed mostly of women forms. For the next two hours you learn remarkable things about them. They reveal some of their most closely kept secrets. When the evening ends and you stand to go home, you take the most attractive woman you met home with you.

The secret? Tarot cards. Anyone who has ever gone to a party and read Tarot cards, or seen Tarot cards read at a party, knows that they are one of the most effective “parlor tricks” around. People, especially women, really enjoy having their fortunes told. And Tarot cards offer the most colorful, timely, personal fortunes available.

Brightly colored cards depict Lovers, Lust, the Devil and Death. The Empress offers the comforts of hearth and home, while the Magician dazzles the crowd. Tarot cards have centuries of history. The first ones appeared in the 14th century, and they were found in the courts of Queen Marie Antoinette and King George the III.

You can find all the Jungian archetypes haunting the cards. The Emperor with his terrestrial power, the Star with a message of hope and inspiration. Though the fall of the cards may seem random, those who read them will tell you that they often reveal the inner workings of the subsconcious mind. Can they really tell the future? Those who read the cards regularly will tell you that they often seem to.

M. David Huxley’s new primer on How to Pick Up Women with Tarot Cards isn’t an instruction manual for seducing and deceiving women. It is a primer on how to use Tarot cards to converse with the unconcious mind. Step by step instructions on how to do a reading, some hypnosis and NLP tricks for showmanship and entertainment value, instructions on how to create on-the-fly personality profiles . . . this book is an instruction manual on how to go from awkward and uncomfortable at parties to someone who is sought after and well liked.

Using Tarot Reading To Interpret Your Dreams

By admin On October 20, 2008 1 Comment
tarot
The dream world full of symbols and imagery has long been a place of mysterious revelations. Many people use Tarot cards to decipher the meanings of their dreams. It is a very basic technique that can enlighten us and provide insight into this mystical realm of our psyche.

Dreams form the foundation of our conscious minds. Dreams depict the subconscious symbolic and pre-symbolic imagery that defines who we are as human beings. Dreams, in essence, are formed from the very essence of who we are. That is to say the subconscious defines our personalities like the silhouette of a peach defines a peach.

Keeping a dream journal can be an invaluable step in understanding your dreams. Although we dream every time we go to bed we often times forget what we dream about. Writing these dreams down while they are fresh in our minds keeps the imagery from slipping back into our subconscious minds and is essential in order to convert your dream images into Tarot images.

Some suggest using a hardbound notebook or journal to keep your dreams stored in. Others feel using a loose-leaf binder with pockets is a better medium to keep your dreams stored in. Many go as far to keep a personal digital tape recorder to record their dreams on so that if they recall a dream during the day they can easily record them onto the voice recorder. Whatever method you choose is entirely up to you and your personal preference.

When writing your journal try separating your dreams in to parts or sections. These sections should outline the imagery found in your dreams. Be sure to note any unusual environmental factors as well as these may hold keys to the overall meaning of your dream.

The Tarot cards come complete with a predefined corollary to decipher their encrypted meanings but dreams do not. So, in order to decipher your dreams using Tarot cards you must first separate your dream into parts. These parts consisting of dream imagery can then be transposed into Tarot imagery that can be deciphered.

The Final step in interpreting your dreams using Tarot cards is to correlate our separated dream images to corresponding Tarot cards. So, after identifying all the dream imagery and isolating them into parts select the corresponding Tarot cards whose imagery seems to correlate with the overall images in your dream. Then you can form an interpretation form these cards as to what your dream really means to you.

Dreams hold a vast untapped potential to help us decipher what is really going on in our subconscious mind. Utilizing divinatory aids to uncover the true meaning of dreams provides a means to trigger memories and decipher imagery stored in our sleeping state. Utilizing these methods can benefit us by enabling us to see into the realm of subconscious thought we are not privy to in our waking state.

Harnessing the power of our dreams to empower us in our lives can be a rewarding experience. It is fortunate that Tarot cards provide a mystic key to these deepest of inner thoughts. As it is frustrating to have the answers to your deepest questions at your fingertips but have no means to derive relevant meaning from them.

Reading Tarot Cards - a Comprehensive Approach

By admin On October 18, 2008 No Comments
tarot
Robert asked:

Reading tarot cards is a pastime that has been done centuries ago, which determines possible outcomes and predictions of the future.  A tarot deck can come in different themes but is basically made up of the twenty-two major arcana cards and the fifty six minor arcana.  Since the early Christian European era, tarot reading was already being done and is still being practiced by aspiring and professional tarot readers today.

I personally have a Pythagorean deck, which differs from other decks as it has mathematical backgrounds incorporated with the cards’ meanings.  Each card has its own meaning depending on how the tarot reader interprets the formation of the cards.  But despite the difference in deck, reading tarot cards is done by interpreting the images or pictures that dominate the entire body of the card.  In reading tarot cards, the cards are placed in a formation called “spreads” which will allow the reader to predict a certain aspect of a person’s life.  Commonly used spreads include the Celtic spread, the horseshoe spread, 3-card spread, 1-card spread, the astrological spread, and the teractycs wherein ten cards are arranged in a four-rowed pyramid.  There are many other spreads aside from these which the tarot reader can use and arrange his cards the way he sees it fit.

Tarot reading is done to answer questions about anything to do with the person.  Whether it would be about love or the future, the cards will either tell you directly the answer or give you a situation which discreetly answers the question.  Some tarot decks require you to delve yourself into a spiritual aura and perform certain rituals in order to get an accurate reading.  For my Pythagorean deck, the cards need to always be purified by the moonlight, arranged and placed in an acceptable box or bag to keep bad spirits from affecting the cards, and to offer praise to the gods in order to be able to read the tarot spread correctly and accurately.  Reading tarot cards doesn’t necessarily mean denouncing your faith or anything of the sort, but a way to know what may be in store for you just as Chinese and love horoscopes do.

Tarot cards can also be used for other purposes.  During the 16th century in Europe, tarot cards were used to compose poetry, also called “tarocchi appropriate”, to describe ladies of the court.  Psychologists also use tarot cards in representing archetypes or are interpreted as pictorial representations of human development from infancy to adulthood.  Some occult schools that specialize in symbolic study use tarot cards as a textbook in their teachings as well.  Reading tarot cards does not only have to be for predictions or answering questions regarding future instances, but can also be a way of understanding human beings in general and the way things act and react in this world.

Reading tarot cards can be done if you’re dedicated in learning the basic interpretations of each card.  Though it may take some practice and a few trials, reading tarot cards can enhance your ability in interpretation and analysis in certain trivial circumstances.
