Tarot Cards - Divinations, Openings and Variations
Samantha Srillian asked:
ds comprise of twenty-one trump cards, the fool and one supplementary face card for all additional suits in the deck. mixed districts in Europe apply the deck to amusement with formed protocols, howeverin English-communicating states, tarot cards can be discovered in the zone of divination.
The tarot cards originated along with additional cards in the 1300’s. professors infer that they were concieved in Islamic states, although the early documented knowledge in the English-communicating globe is the Christian terrain of Bern, Switzerland. The older tarot cards comprised of just 16 trump cards as compared to twenty-one in futuristic decks.
A deck of tarot cards, as they are used today, contains 78 cards, all of which contain different, meaningful symbols which can be interpreted in a number of ways. The deck contains a total of four suits, and the names of the suits may vary depending upon the tarot deck one is using. Often times, the suits are referred to as wands, cups, swords, and coins, which make up what is known as the Minor Arcana. Meanwhile, the Major Arcana consists of twenty two cards, all of which are used to signify major events or people in a reading.
Meaning is assigned to each card in a tarot deck; however, the specifics of interpretation are impacted by the layout of the cards, whether they are upright or reversed, and the interpreter’s own reading. Many of the cards in the major arcana, the trump cards, are fairly logical. The Lovers represent love, in some capacity, while Strength is symbolic of courage and drive. Each of the cards in the minor arcana also carries meaning when used for divination, based on both the numeric value of the card and which suit it is. Meanings of each card can be found online, in books, or simply by interpreting the images on the card.
Face-to-face tarot card readings are the most popular types of readings because they allow the person to select the cards themselves. The reader then interprets what cards are chosen. This has more market appeal due to its interactive nature. In different parts of the world, there are several street readers who do readings for passers-by. There are also people who go to homes in order to read tarot card meanings for other people. England rates for home readings are at £12.50 per person or around that area.
Tarot card purists believe that these face-to-face readings are the original type of readings. This leads them to believe that face-to-face readings are a lot truer than other types of tarot card readings like e-mail or telephone readings. Then again, these arguments are astrological in nature and cannot be found to be true or accurate.
Telephone readings are generally more available than the street readings. A simple Google search will provide one with more options than one can normally find in the local streets. These readings are available for more or less £5.00 per reading.
Phone readings are generally cheaper because being online the tarot card readers can appeal to a larger audience, and through which they do not have to over charge, as there is no lack of customers.
There is, however, a drawback to phone readings: a lack of mystique. According to tarot card purists, again, phone readings are less effective than the typical face-to-face reading. Unfounded as this argument may be, it is enough to sway reading prices lower, and for those who believe in astrology, this may mean a whole lot.
This industry is largely helped by the growth of online communication. While past services have only been for local phone lines or party lines, the Internet has encouraged a large market growth in tarot card readings over the phone.
Tarot cards have a long history, both as a simple card game and as a tool for divination. The modern usage of these cards is purely esoteric. If you are interested, you should keep in mind that tarot cards are only as helpful as the reader is perceptive, and that while you may leave with some clarifications of your own thoughts, more than that is unlikely.

Free Tarot is a Wonderful Way to Get Acquainted With This Form of Divination
Amit Bhalla asked:
Future, no matter how scary, is always enticing a person to get a sneak peek into what it holds. Most of us are broadly divided into two categories, the believers and the non-believers in various methods of divination. A somewhat mixed category consists of people who are not believers but are ready to be convinced with sufficient proof. Among the various methods of reading the future or getting a glimpse into what it holds, ranges from the widely popular astrology to the lesser known art of I-Ching and runes. Tarot lies somewhere in between it all. Derived from the old concept of playing cards, it has evolved into a separate branch of study on its own. Dating back to the 15th century, the tarot has not only survived over the ages but has also gained tremendous popularity on the way.
In modern times, tarot is popular not only as a parlor game but also as a popular tool for divination. The beautifully drawn tarot decks are a pleasure to view and even a non believer of divination is bound to be attracted to the sets. Many varieties of the tarot deck are available in the market today and one can pick up a set that catches their fancy. In fact tarot has crossed the physical boundaries and made a place for itself in the World Wide Web as well. Free tarot reading communities have cropped up all over the internet and anyone with any interest in this art can visit the sites to gain much knowledge and information.
Most of the tarot related websites offer free tarot reading for the visitors. All of needs to do is click on any of the spreads and select one, three or at times even seven cards that will unfold their future. However, when going in for a tarot reading, whether free tarot or paid reading, you must be aware of the very basic truth about this art. Tarot does not tell you what you want to know, but only tells you what you need to know for that moment. Like most other forms of divination, the tarot is also concerned with the present moment. It is your feelings, energies and emotions of the present that will help to choose a card for your future. Some of the websites have free tarot card readings that can be uncannily true for some; hence the important question is that of complete faith.
The free tarot sites also do their fair bit in educating the visitor as well as spreading awareness about this art. A visitor to these sites can very well grasp the basic facts of tarot if he or she is really interested. However, in order to be able to interpret the tarot, you need to hone your intuitive skills as this cannot be taught to anyone, but rather it comes naturally to those inclined towards this art. So if you have any inclination towards tarot, you could simply visit an online site or even the normal playing cards would be a good place to start your quest of tarot.

Are Tarot Card Readers for Real?
of tarot cards started around the 15th century, one century after cards were introduced in Europe starting with the newly rising towns in Italy like Milan, Ferrera, and Bologna. The evolution of Tarot as we know it today has a variety of stories and legends. The mystical quality of tarot cards intrigues historians, scholars, spiritualists, and hobbyists. Tarot cards were first used as game pieces much like regular decks, far different from what we think of tarot cards today, although a reference to Tarot as a set of devil cards was made as early as 1450. The culture of tarot cards started in Egypt, which is the same civilization that championed astrology.
A typical tarot deck contains 78 cards consisting of the four suits seen in regular card games, which are hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs. The Latin version of the tarot deck has a different set of suits. They are swords, batons, cups, and coins. Like a regular deck, tarot cards are numbered from one to ten plus the four court cards; jack, queen, king, and ace.
The difference between a tarot deck and the regular deck is the twenty-one divinity cards known as Major Arcana. A joker equivalent in the tarot deck is called the Fool, or the excuse. The Fool can take all four suits and acts as the strongest trump card.
Along with the evolving interpretations to the meaning of tarot cards come new methods for card readers to express the message to the average Joe. Today, face-to-face card readings are being replaced by phone and online readings. However, for full impact and experience, face-to-face card readings still trump other methods. Face-to-face tarot readings allow the person to choose his face-down card, giving him a semblance of control to his fortunes. Face-to-face readings are common in community fairs, parties, and in the streets. The price of a tarot card reading varies depending on the popularity of the reader and how much detail the person wants to know about his future.
Alternative tarot card reading methods include phone and online readings. While there are free Internet sites to read your fortunes, they are only for show or offered as a gimmick. On the other hand, professional tarot card readers offering their services over the phone can cost about £5.00 per reading. Card reading over the phone offers a different approach to commercial tarot card reading, since the customer can have a hotline to know his fortunes on demand. Card reading allows people to have their fortunes checked every morning, which is both convenient and lifestyle altering.
Tarot card divination may not be a real science; it may not be as accurate as some people would like to believe, but the market for tarot is ever growing through the availability of readings online and in other similar mediums. While this is so, there is still a large demand for face-to-face tarot reading because of the mystique and interactivity. A fair judgment of the industry is that it is growing in its different aspects - whether it is face to face, on the phone, or by some other medium. While society drives itself into a more scientific future, the appeal of astrology, especially in tarot cards, is still growing fast.

Tarot Cards- a Clever Marketing Strategy or an Ancient Mystical Guide?
Tarot cards- a clever marketing strategy or an ancient mystical guide?
There is much mystery surrounding the history of the tarot and countless myths about its origins. Cynics say that this mystery has been manipulated as a marketing tool for tarot card salesmen!
However, by just looking at the evidence and opinions supplied by other tarot enthusiasts we see that the earliest surviving full deck was painted in 1422 by Italian artist Bonifacio Bembo. This is known as the Visconti deck, named after the Duke of Milan, who commissioned them. Although accounts of Ancient Egyptian, Celtic, Indian and earlier Italian links have been suggested, there is no evidence of any earlier decks.
The cards were originally used for a game called Tarocchi or ‘Game of Triumphs’ which was similar to Bridge. The game was played mainly by the Upper Classes and has continued in some circles.
The tarot’s use by the Upper Classes probably saved the game from being banned by the Church even though it was considered to be heresy and was outlawed by the Church. Indeed in the latter half of the fifteenth century some church sermons labelled tarot as the work of the Devil, but the Church had better foes to fight where cards were concerned- mainly games promoting gambling.
It is believed that the cards were used for inspiration for poetry, describing aspects of the human mind and character traits. The cards have obviously evolved according to the culture of the times and attitudes from whence they were used.
Probably the most important manifestations and manipulations of the Tarot deck were by Alistair Crowley and Waite of the Rider-Waite deck. The imagery on this deck is the one with which we are most familiar today. The Rider- Waite deck was introduced into America in the twentieth century and the one most available to the American public.

Motivated by Tarot - How to Gain Personal Motivation With Tarot
Sylvia Markwood asked:
When you’re feeling sluggish, unmotivated, and generally crummy, it’s time to hit the tarot deck. Most people don’t think of the tarot as a tool to boost motivation, but it can be, and a powerful one.
Here are some questions to ask the tarot to get your motivational juices flowing:
* What are the most challenging obstacles facing me right now?
Does this question seem obvious? Some of the most draining challenges you’re dealing with are ones you aren’t even conscious of on a daily basis. Identify them, remove them, and your energy will have less weighing it down.
* If I work hard and accomplish my goals, what will be the outcome?
More than likely you will conjure up cards with images of golden coins, glittery rainbows, and dancing, merry people. Draw a small sketch of your cards and put it somewhere obvious so that you will see it often; this will keep your mind on the rewards of all your effort.
* Who do I know that can help me with my goals?
Tarot often reveals things about people close to us we never knew; use it to find out who you know that has been in the same boat as you and can give you advice and assistance.
Some more tips on using the tarot to increase motivation:
* Pinpoint the goal you’re most focused on right now.
Now, pick out the card from your tarot deck that best illustrates this goal or the benefits of achieving this goal. Take a mental picture of the card and focus on it when you find your motivation waning.
* Map out your plan.
Then, do a daily tarot spread to check your progress. Record your progress in a notebook or on your computer.
